Released in 2017 on the Domino label, Neuk Wight Delhi All-Stars is a deeply captivating collaboration between Scottish folk artist James Yorkston, double bassist Jonny Thorne, and Indian classical musician Suhail Yusuf Khan. The record weaves together folk, world, and electronic influences into something truly singular — from the haunted stillness of "Bales" to the furious 15-minute devotional energy of "Halleluwah," the trio moves fluidly between pastoral tenderness and transcendent intensity.
What makes this album so compelling is the seamless way three distinct musical worlds collide and complement one another — whether Khan and Yorkston are deftly arranging a traditional Indian melody over Thorne's reading of Roger Eno's "You're Just a Bloke," or Yorkston is paying sweet, meditative tribute to a fallen friend on the seven-minute "The Blues You Sang." This vinyl edition is pressed in a beautifully packaged gatefold sleeve with printed inner sleeves, and includes an exclusive track not found on other formats, as well as an unlisted drone track on Side D.
