Tras La Tormenta marks the fifth and final collaborative studio album between salsa legends Willie Colón and Panamanian songwriter Rubén Blades, released in 1995 through Sony Tropical. Recorded at Acme Recordings Studios after a 10-year hiatus following their disagreements over The Last Fight (1984), this reunion album is considered one of the most successful salsa albums of all time. The record reached #3 on Billboard's Tropical Albums chart and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Tropical Latin Album at the 38th Annual Grammy Awards.
This double LP features four hit singles: "Talento De Televisión," "Homenaje A Héctor Lavoe," "Tras La Tormenta," and "Como Un Huracán." The album showcases the duo's mastery of salsa infused with Cuban charanga, Brazilian samba, and other Latin rhythms. Interestingly, Colón and Blades never shared the same studio during recording—a circumstance that wouldn't change until their 20th anniversary celebration of Siembra in 2003.
