Vanities is the second album from W. H. Lung, the Manchester band led by Tom Sharkett, released in 2021 on Melodic. It follows their debut, Incidental Music, a krautrock, synth pop and groove-driven record that earned a place on many end-of-year lists. The band came back eager to keep that momentum going.

The album blends electronic textures, rock instincts and pop melody, with a mood that is more subdued than its predecessor. Songs like "Pearl in the Palm" show the band's talent for hypnotic rhythms and layered synths. It's the kind of record that rewards repeat listens and tends to grow on you.
