Album II is the second of two collaborative records born from an electrifying 2019 performance by Japanese experimental musician and composer Eiko Ishibashi at Cologne's Week-End Fest. That night, she was joined by drummers Tatsuhisa Yamamoto and Joe Talia — both celebrated figures in Tokyo's improvisational and experimental music scene — alongside Cologne-based band Von Spar, setting the stage for a transatlantic creative partnership that bridges jazz, rock, and electronic experimentation.
Released in 2024 on Bureau B/Week-End Records and made possible with support from the Cultural Office of the City of Cologne, Album II represents a truly international meeting of minds. Eiko Ishibashi, widely recognized for her Oscar-winning film score work on Drive My Car, brings her signature blend of avant-garde sensibility to this deeply collaborative project, making this record a compelling addition for fans of boundary-pushing, genre-defying music.
