Stax Does the Beatles is a soulful reimagining of the Fab Four's most beloved songs, filtered through the legendary sound of Memphis's iconic Stax Records. The compilation brings together some of the label's most celebrated artists — including Booker T. & the MGs, Otis Redding, Carla Thomas, Steve Cropper, and David Porter — to put their unmistakable R&B and soul stamp on classic Beatles material.
The result is a stunning collision of two musical worlds, where Beatles hits are transformed into groove-driven, deeply soulful performances that feel both familiar and refreshingly new. Anchored by the tight, rhythmic foundation of Stax's house band, the album is an essential listen for fans of classic soul and Beatles admirers alike, showcasing just how universally powerful these songs truly are.
