Born out of an inspired promotional campaign for Hiatus Kaiyote's The Smooth Sounds of Tres Leches, LHCC Mart Vol. 1, this project quickly outgrew its origins as the imagined soundtrack to a fictional supermarket. Tres Leches — a trio made up of Hiatus Kaiyote members Paul Bender and Simon Mavin alongside touring member SilentJay — lovingly recorded and mixed these sultry, sensual reimaginings of Hiatus Kaiyote classics in hotel rooms during a North American tour, giving the sessions an intimate, candlelit warmth all their own.
What started as a creative side experiment evolved into something genuinely captivating: raunchy, mood-setting renditions of beloved tracks like "Nakamarra," "Red Room," and "Make Friends" that feel both familiar and entirely new. Released on Brainfeeder Records in 2025, this album is a must for fans of Hiatus Kaiyote looking to hear their favorite songs cast in a smoky, after-hours light.
