Bicycles & Tricycles is a mid-2000s entry in the catalog of The Orb, the long-running electronic project led by Dr. Alex Paterson. It arrived on Cooking Vinyl in 2004 and drew on a wide circle of collaborators, including Thomas Fehlmann, Jack Dangers, and Jimmy Cauty, as well as vocalists Soom T and Eric Walker.
The album leans into breakbeat rhythms while keeping the project's signature sense of drift: rushing waves of sound, spoken-word excerpts, and playful, shifting textures. It is a more cohesive set than some of the group's later work, with moments of dub-tinged groove and wandering ambient imagination. Longtime fans and newcomers curious about the group's quirky, exploratory side will find plenty to enjoy.
