Sawdust is The Killers' collection of B-sides, rarities, and stray tracks, first released in 2007 when the Las Vegas band was at the height of its early success. It follows the arena-sized rock of their first two albums and shows another side of the group, with material that didn't fit neatly into their main studio releases.
The collection brings together synth-driven new wave, big-hearted heartland rock, and a few surprising detours, including a Joy Division cover and a collaboration with Lou Reed. Brandon Flowers' dramatic vocals and the band's knack for soaring hooks tie it together. For longtime fans it's a rewarding look at the band's creative range, and for newcomers it's an easy way to hear more of what made The Killers so distinctive.
