Fountains of Youth: Live at the Town and Country Club captures The Go-Betweens at a pivotal moment in their career, recorded during a 1987 performance in London. Released on Beggars Banquet, this live album offers an intimate look at one of Australia's most beloved and critically acclaimed alternative acts, showcasing the band's undeniable chemistry on stage.
The set draws on some of the band's finest material, balancing high-energy tracks like "This Girl, Black Girl" and "Head Full of Steam" with more emotionally resonant pieces such as "When People Are Dead" and "Apology Accepted." It's a testament to the songwriting partnership of Robert Forster and Grant McLennan, whose jangle pop sensibility and literate lyricism made The Go-Betweens one of the most distinctive voices of the post-punk era.
