Where much of Vai's catalog showcases jaw-dropping technical wizardry, Vai/Gash strips things back to pure, unfiltered rock energy with a biker-culture soul at its core. The album carries an emotional weight as well, as it stands as a tribute to Sombretto, whose passing meant the project was never completed in its time — making this long-overdue release both a celebration of the music and a testament to the bond between two friends.
