Murphy Horse is the latest album from Smidley, the project of musician Jake Murphy, released in 2026 on Royal Mountain Records. Marking what feels like a bold new chapter in his catalog, the record is his most expansive and hook-driven work yet, showcasing a confident leap forward in his songwriting and sonic ambition.

The album blends indie rock warmth with heartfelt, emotionally resonant lyrics, and features notable collaborations with artists including Lucy Dacus and NNAMDÏ, adding fresh dimensions to Murphy's already compelling sound. With standout melodies and a richly layered atmosphere throughout, Murphy Horse is a strong statement from an artist hitting his stride.
