The 2015 western road film Slow West, about a teenaged boy searching for a lost love in 19th century America, features a yearning score by Jed Kurzel (The Snowtown Murders, The Babadook). The unsettled tone of most of the music emerges from sparse, staccato arrangements that include, sometimes alone and sometimes together, acoustic guitar, plucked strings, hand percussion, and small string ensembles performed by the London Contemporary Orchestra. The soundtrack also contains several dialogue cues and other diegetic tracks such as "Theme from the Orkestra of the Dead," performed by a whistling and strumming Bryan Michael Mills as the Minstrel, as well as a closing instrumental title song performed by English experimental rock band Django Django. ~ Marcy Donelson
