Siouxsie & The Banshees includes: Siouxsie Sioux (vocals, percussion); Budgie, Jon Klein (guitar); Martin McCarrick (dulcimer, cello, keyboards); Steve Severin (drums).
Additional personnel: Talvin Singh (tabla).
After releasing a series of albums in the early 80's that were quite different from its predecessor (JUJU, A KISS IN THE DREAM HOUSE, HYAENA), goth and alternative groundbreakers Siouxse & the Banshees closed out the decade with albums that were closely musically related to each other by a more straightforward approach - TINDERBOX and PEEP SHOW, plus their first release of the 90's, 1991's SUPERSTITION. The track "Kiss Them for Me" received a surprisingly sizable amount of airplay on MTV and alternative radio, while other tracks like "Fear (Of the Unknown)" and "Drifter" proved to be standouts as well. While other similarly styled bands that were clearly influenced by their early work were breaking through commercially in the U.S. (namely The Cure and Jane's Addiction), the Banshees' were still able to retain a small but dedicated cult audience. SUPERSTITION went on to become one of the band's most successful releases in the States, due mostly to Siouxse's appearance on the inaugural Lollapalooza festival tour, headlined by the aforementioned Jane's Addiction.
