Sergio Zevallos is a Peruvian artist based in Berlin who has been active since the 1980s, when he was part of one of Peru's most radical avant-garde art collectives. Atem: Piezas Para Acciones E Instalaciones (1999-2019), released on Lima's celebrated Buh Records, serves as the first retrospective collection of his sound works, spanning two decades of compositions created to accompany performances and installations.
Drawing from a unique personal notation system, Zevallos crafts minimalist, loop-based soundscapes that weave together text readings, conversation, environmental sounds, cello, and noise in a striking cut-up style arrangement. The result is a deeply textured and unconventional listening experience that sits at the intersection of electronic experimentation, contemporary classical composition, and performance art — making it a compelling find for fans of boundary-pushing and conceptually rich sound work.
