Originally released on Bluesville Records in 1962, Mr. Scrapper's Blues is a deeply intimate solo record from blues guitarist and vocalist Scrapper Blackwell. Stripped down to just Blackwell performing on vocals, guitar, and piano, the album showcases a more subtle and personal side of the blues. As producer Arthur Rosenbaum noted, the music is "less direct and accessible but more subtle and personal; their meaning has grown more profound over the years."
This reissue, part of the prestigious Bluesville Acoustic Sounds Series, presents the album with warmly intimate audio character — featuring a slightly boxy guitar tone and rich, round vocals that draw listeners close to Blackwell's expressive performances. Pressed on 180-gram vinyl at QRP in partnership with Acoustic Sounds, this edition is housed in a replica tip-on jacket and includes a blue obi strip, making it a thoughtfully presented way to experience a classic of acoustic blues.
