Pink Floyd – The BBC Sessions 1969 (12-Inch Album on Tri-Colour Vinyl)
Pressed on stunning tri-colour vinyl, this release brings together two legendary live sessions recorded for the BBC by Pink Floyd during 1969.
Side One showcases Pink Floyd’s stunning performance at the Paris Theatre, London, on 12 May, during their The Man and The Journey Tour. The Man and The Journey Tour was an informal concert tour by Pink Floyd during which the conceptual music piece The Man and The Journey was played. The suite of music consisted of several of their early songs, some unreleased songs, and material later included on More and Ummagumma.
Side Two showcases Pink Floyd’s famous BBC live session from 20 July. Featured is Moonhead, a bluesy, atmospheric instrumental piece, the band improvised live on the air, used to underscore the BBC’s coverage of the Apollo 11 moon-landing. Also included is a stellar rendition of Embryo. The song was regularly performed live, but never released on any Pink Floyd studio album – the studio version of the song was recorded late 1968 and intended for Ummagumma.
These recordings are in public domain according to the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, sections 6-9, "Copyright in broadcasts made for, or first published by BBC, lasts for 50 years from the end of the year of first publication.
