On December 31, 1993, Phish took the stage at the Worcester Centrum — a 14,800-capacity hockey arena — for their fifth annual New Year's Eve show, marking their biggest headline performance to date. The sold-out night captured the band at a pivotal moment in their career, fresh off recording their fifth studio album Hoist and armed with an electrifying set that included a Llama opener and a fiery Stash. The stage itself was an elaborate aquarium installation, complete with seaweed, rocks, swimming fish, and a giant clam — a spectacle that perfectly matched the band's imaginative, larger-than-life energy.
New Year's Eve 1993 Live at Worcester Centrum delivers all 30 complete tracks from that legendary night, sourced directly from the band's original 2-inch 24-track reels, recorded by Paul Languedoc, mixed by Jon Altschiller, and mastered for vinyl by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering. Released by JEMP Records, this deluxe box set also includes a "Cut-Out" Phish Aquarium set as a nod to the iconic stage design, making it a meaningful piece of Phish history for devoted fans.
