Double vinyl LP pressing. Career-spanning 19-track compilation includes "Easy Lover", "In The Air Tonight", "Sussudio", "Another Day In Paradise", "Against All Odds", "A Groovy Kind Of Love" and more. Before he became a multi-million-selling solo artist, Phil Collins was the drummer and singer of the rock band Genesis. Between 1982 and 1989, Collins scored three UK and seven US number-one singles in his solo career. When his work with Genesis, his work with other artists, as well as his solo career is totalled, Collins had more US Top 40 singles than any other artist during the 1980s. He is one of only two recording artists, along with Paul McCartney, who have sold over 100 million records worldwide both as solo artists and separately as principal members of a band.

Phil Collins certainly has enough hits to fill out a double-disc compilation -- in the U.K. he had 25 Top 40 singles and he reached the Billboard Top 40 21 times in the U.S., with many of them overlapping -- but the 2016 set The Singles doesn't march through these hits in chronological order. Opening with "Easy Lover," his 1985 duet with Earth, Wind & Fire's Philip Bailey, this 33-track compilation happily hopscotches through the years. Such non-chronological sequencing does mean certain hits are saved for the greatest emotional impact -- naturally, "Take Me Home" closes out the proceedings -- but it also focuses attention on songs that weren't blockbusters, whether it's such meditative turn-of-the-'90s adult contemporary hits as "That's Just the Way It Is" or the brooding early single "Thru These Walls." Ultimately, this forced perspective is why The Singles is something more than just a collection of big hits: it helps illustrate that Collins' solo catalog ran deeper than "In the Air Tonight," "You Can't Hurry Love," "Sussudio," "One More Night," "Against All Odds," and "Another Day in Paradise." ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Low, sound quality

Hey Geno! We have reached out to you multiple times about this, but haven't heard back, which is fine. However, please note that we are a retailer of vinyl and we do not actually press these albums ourselves. The pressing quality is really dependent on the record label and the manufacturers they use. They arrive to us brand new and sealed and we have no say in the sound quality. We are not a record label or a pressing plant. In other words, the sound quality would have been exactly same if you had bought this same pressing from a different store anywhere else online. Not all pressings sound as good as others, but then again that can happen with any album. Thanks for shopping with us and hopefully your next experience is a perfect one. We appreciate having you as a customer.
