Los Angeles songwriter Chris Adams, recording as Pendant, crafted Harp after being unable to access the spaces he had previously used to record its predecessor, Through a Coil. Forced to abandon his guitar-based approach, Adams embraced synthesizers and electronic music with a beginner's curiosity, resulting in a 13-track album released on Saddle Creek in 2022 that showcases a deep respect for the art and history of electronic music.
Harp is a richly textured work that explores themes of life, dreams, memories, and death, examining how pain and love weave through all of these experiences. Where Adams' previous work leaned into abstraction and metaphysical imagery, this album finds him navigating a singular sonic world that feels both harsh and beautiful, marking a compelling artistic evolution for the project.
