A landmark of Egyptian music, Music From The East is the iconic 1976 instrumental album from legendary musician and composer Ammar El Sherei. Here, El Sherei brings his own hypnotic and innovative vision to seven classic compositions by fellow Egyptian great Mohamed Abdel Wahab, weaving synth and organ-heavy arrangements — including the distinctive sounds of the Steelphon S900 and Farfisa — into something entirely his own. The result is a mesmerizing blend of Arabic tradition and forward-thinking sonic experimentation that placed Egyptian music at the cutting edge of the 1970s.
Originally released on the Soutelphan label in 1976, Music From The East is now reissued on vinyl for the very first time by Wewantsounds, with audio newly remastered by Coloursound Studio in Paris and original artwork faithfully restored. The release also includes an insert featuring bilingual liner notes (French and English) by Mario Choueiry of the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris, offering rich cultural context for one of the Arab world's most celebrated and sought-after groove records.
