Released in 2006, Dark Light Daybreak marks a bold creative step forward for Now It's Overhead. The Nebraska-rooted project, led by Andy Jensen, had been building a reputation in the indie rock world, and this third full-length finds the band at their most focused and deliberate, leaning more heavily into emphatic guitars than on previous efforts.

Dark Light Daybreak is characterized by an austere, messianic quality that sets it apart from the band's earlier, hazier sound. The record strips things back to something more direct and driving, delivering a collection of indie rock that feels both urgent and introspective — a meaningful evolution in Now It's Overhead's catalog.
