Mourning [A] BLKstar is a Cleveland-based collective known for blending hip-hop, soul, and funk into a powerful and socially conscious sound. Released in May 2025 on Don Giovanni Records, Flowers for the Living brings together the group's core members — RA Washington, LaToya Kent, James Longs, and their collaborators — for a fully self-written, performed, and arranged project recorded and mixed by Jah Nada.

Flowers for the Living features guest appearances from Lee Bains and Fatboi Sharif, adding additional depth to an album that spans themes suggested by its evocative title. The record is a testament to the collective's artistic vision, with live instrumentation including trumpet, guitar, keys, and bass woven seamlessly alongside drum machines and layered vocal performances.
