The final release by the original lineup of the Misfits, which followed Glenn Danzig's acrimonious departure from the band by mere months, Die, Die My Darling lets the band go out with a bang. The title cut (which Danzig claimed was recorded three years earlier, during the Walk Among Us sessions) ranks among the best the Misfits ever recorded -- pure, brutal energy unleashed. The others, "Mommy, Can I Go Out & Kill Tonight?" and "We Bite," are not quite up to that standard but still pack a punch. Long sought after by collectors (because it was originally pressed in limited purple and white vinyl editions), it's not as essential now that all of its cuts have been issued on the box set. Still, as a blast of pure Misfits punk fury, Die, Die My Darling is essential. ~ Victor W. Valdivia
