Miles Davis' 'Round About Midnight captures the legendary trumpeter's quintet during a pivotal period in jazz history, featuring the classic lineup with John Coltrane, Red Garland, and Paul Chambers. Originally recorded in the mid-1950s, this collection showcases Davis' evolving sound as he moved between record labels, blending ballads and bop standards with his signature restrained yet emotionally powerful style.
This 2012 pressing on 180g vinyl brings together performances that "snap and sparkle" with bright, warm recording quality that highlights the road-honed chemistry of Davis' quintet. The release combines material from both Columbia and Prestige sessions, offering collectors a comprehensive view of this classic period when Davis was reinvigorating jazz standards and establishing the foundation for his future innovations.
