In 2014, Cologne/Perpignan duo Klangwart traveled to Bogotá for a remarkable cross-cultural recording session with prolific Colombian group Meridian Brothers. The result is Monserrate, a collective composition that brings together an extraordinary cast of musicians, weaving together the voices of Juanita and Valentina Añez Rothmann with cello, drums, and bass into something that beautifully bridges electronic and world music sensibilities.
Monserrate is released on Cougouyou Music and features a remix by Sylvain Garcia, aka Le Ka, adding another dimension to the original recording. Produced by Timo Reuber in Cologne in 2017, this release represents a genuine artistic collaboration between European and Colombian musicians, making it a compelling addition to any collection of adventurous, genre-defying music.
