Following his well-received debut Childish Mind, classical guitarist Jonathan Bockelmann turns his attention to the music of Ryuichi Sakamoto with Sakamoto (On Guitar). The album reimagines the composer's works for solo classical guitar, bringing intimate new voices to pieces like "Bibo No Aozora" and "A Flower Is Not a Flower."

Bockelmann draws from both well-loved Sakamoto themes and lesser-known compositions such as the "Suite for Krug," adapting them with a delicate, expressive touch. For some pieces, like "Dream," no score existed, so he worked out the notes by ear, building what he describes as a whole new repertoire for the instrument. The result is warm, contemplative, and a pleasure for fans of Sakamoto and classical guitar alike.
