Personnel: Johnny Thunders (vocals, guitar, bass); Walter Lure (guitar); Joe Mazzari, Simon Ritt (bass); Billy Rogers (drums).
Producers include: Johnny Thunders, Jimmy Miller.
Recorded at Downtown Studios, Boston, Euphoria Sound Studios, Revere and live at Jonathan Swift's, Cambridge, Massachusetts between March and October 1982.
Although this is a bit of a mishmash--a mix of live material and studio stuff done with producer Jimmy Miller (of Rolling Stones fame)--IN COLD BLOOD is nevertheless a good document of the ex-New York Doll's solo work from the early '80s.
Highlights include "Sad Vacation," Thunders' sad farewell to fellow junkie Sid Vicious, an out of control "Louie Louie," with a brilliantly psychotic solo, a funny version of "Gloria," complete with a guitar quote from the theme from BONANZA, a surprisingly poignant solo version of "Diary of a Lover," with Thunders on acoustic twelve-string, and one of Thunders' best who-needs-girls anthems with lyrics pasted onto Booker T.'s "Green Onions."
