Ruff Draft: Dilla's Mix revisits one of the most beloved projects in J Dilla's catalog, the 2003 Ruff Draft EP, in the form of his own original mixes. Created during a pivotal period in the Detroit producer's career, the material presents a raw, intimate side of an artist whose influence on hip-hop production is hard to overstate.

The music is loose, gritty, and full of character, with drums that stumble and swing, dusty samples, and a hands-on feel that defines Dilla's craft. Previously unreleased tracks like "Wild" and "Take Notice" add fresh angles to a project fans already cherish, while the album as a whole offers a closer look at how Dilla shaped and sequenced his ideas.
