Inklings is the fourth album in four years from House Of All, a band that continues to build its own singular mythology. Each record has been a subtle step forward from the last, moving the group further from its past without denying any of it.
Where the first three albums were largely improvised, Inklings takes a different approach, with sounds, rhythms, grooves and melodies shaped into songs afterward. The result is a gripping, ambitious set of post-punk-leaning indie rock that shows a band growing more confident in its craft.
