Icepick to the Moon is the long-awaited follow-up from Fred Lane and His Disheveled Monkeybiters, arriving on Feeding Tube Records in 2019. It follows Lane's surreal 1988 album Car Radio Jerome, a cult favorite among fans of outsider music and the avant-garde.
Blending jazz and rock with a deadpan, absurdist sense of humor, the album shows off Lane's theatrical vocals and a taste for the strange and the grotesque. Song titles like "Fried Yellow Women" and "Buttocks of the Spartan Dead" give a fair idea of the offbeat world he builds, and the playing stays tight and swinging throughout.
