Duke Jordan, the legendary pianist who stood on the front lines of the bebop revolution as a member of Charlie Parker's quintet, recorded his sole Blue Note album Flight To Jordan in August 1960. This exemplary hard bop session features an outstanding quintet including Dizzy Reece on trumpet, Stanley Turrentine on saxophone, Reggie Workman on bass, and Art Taylor on drums.

The album showcases six fine Jordan original compositions that demonstrate his sophisticated writing and arranging skills. Highlights include the minor mode title track, the elegant ballad "Starbrite," the church-inspired "Deacon Joe," and the Latin-tinged "Si-Joya," creating a diverse musical journey that captures the essence of early 1960s hard bop at its finest.
