Released in 2026 on Jagjaguwar, There Near marks another strong chapter in Dinosaur Jr.'s remarkable run of late-career albums. The record features contributions from both J Mascis and Lou Barlow, maintaining the collaborative dynamic that has long defined the band's creative energy and kept their sound vital across decades.
Musically, There Near delivers everything fans have come to love from Dinosaur Jr. — swirling layers of guitar, a shambling rhythm section, and the band's signature blend of melodic warmth and thick, distorted ennui. Barlow's contributions bring a more introspective and lyrically pointed edge, while the album as a whole continues the band's tradition of balancing noise and melody with a loose, unhurried confidence that few rock acts can pull off as naturally.
