The Big One is the 2026 release from Dent May, arriving on Carpark Records. May is known for pop songwriting that carries an ecstatic melancholy, and this record is described as one of his most enjoyable yet, with songs, production, arrangements, and vocals fitting together like a puzzle.
The title track is the beating heart of the album. Over a steady drumbeat, piano, and accordion, May sings, "The big one's coming, the big one's on its way," and sets a wistful tone against the sunny pop around it. Song titles like "Last Night I Saw A UFO" and "I Don't Like You (But I Love You)" hint at the humor, heart, and bittersweet charm that run through his craft.
