The Ship represents Brian Eno's return to solo recording after two albums in collaboration with Underworld's Karl Hyde issued months apart in 2014. Eno announced in a press release that it was conceived "...from experiments with three dimensional recording techniques and formed in two, interconnected parts." He took as his inspiration a preoccupation with the historical disasters of the sinking of the Titanic and the horror of WWI. Though 47 minutes long, it contains just two pieces. The title song makes up the album's first half, while the second is a three-part suite that concludes with a cover of Lou Reed's "I'm Set Free." ~ Thom Jurek
