The band is led by Grammy winning producer Adrian Quesada and songwriter Eric Burton. Burton arrived in Austin after busking his way across the country from Los Angeles, while Quesada has a storied reputation for playing in bands like Grupo Fantasma and Brownout. The two collaborated on a new sound that transmutes soul into something idiosyncratically modern - reminiscent of Ghostface Killah and Motown in equal measure.

Something for everyone

My 74 year old mother in law likes this. My wife who is equal parts pop silliness aficionado and 80s/90s new wave, punk, ska lover loves this. I who at my extreme ends dabble in dark wave, drone, harsh noise, and avant garde, like this. The music is upbeat and accessible AND deceptively complex. The lyrics seem sentimental and at times oppressively optimistic, hide some surprising depth and ambivalence. They really snuck something unique into this bit of pop neo-soul.
