Scottish duo Arab Strap, Aidan Moffat and Malcolm Middleton, return on Rock Action Records with Half-Told Tales, a fourteen-track collection that extends their long-running, singular sound. Opening with the sax-fuelled "I Get Noise," the album pairs Middleton's guitar work with Moffat's sharp, spoken-sung storytelling in a fresh variation on the band's signature style.
Despite the title, these songs are packed with hyper-detailed narratives, blending dark humor, brilliant wordplay, and sharp observations about the world with moments of heartaching beauty and despair. There's even room for sunnier moments, like the chiming, romantic "Sunsong," proof that Moffat's usually well-hidden tenderness can still surface in an Arab Strap love song.
