One of the first thrash metal bands to emerge from the US East Coast, Anthrax was founded in 1981 in New York City. The band became one of the leaders of speed metal, combining the vigor of hardcore punk with the elevated guitar sound and vocals of heavy metal, they helped create a new subgenre of heavy metal. In the ’90s, they began to increase their experiments with hip-hop, touring with Public Enemy and scoring a hit with “Bring the Noise“. This is the band after the release of ‘Sound of White Noise’, an album that explored a different alternative metal style.
