Conversations With The Anthony Burgess Cassette Archive (1964-1993) offers a rare auditory glimpse into the private world of the acclaimed writer through never-before-heard tape recordings spanning nearly three decades. Curated by Alan Dunn in collaboration with the International Anthony Burgess Foundation and Sub Rosa, this project assembles the first and last known recordings of Burgess's voice, along with candid domestic moments, rehearsals, and answering machine messages.
The double album brings together these intimate archival materials on one disc and invites a diverse cast of 23 contemporary artists—including Chris Watson, Scanner, and Guy-Marc Hinant—to reimagine the source material on the other. The result is a fascinating blend of experimental electronic soundscapes and non-music, revealing Burgess's wit, musicality, and thoughts on figures from The Beatles to Stanley Kubrick.
