Back To Black is Amy Winehouse's 2006 breakthrough, a record that made her a global star and is widely regarded as one of the great breakup albums. Working with producers Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi, she fused classic soul, girl-group pop, and jazz-tinged R&B into a sound that felt both vintage and unmistakably modern.
In little more than 30 minutes, the album keeps its focus on Winehouse herself, with brass-heavy arrangements and lush harmonies framing her smoky, magnetic voice. Her lyrics are candid, sharp, and often darkly funny as she writes about heartbreak, temptation, and regret. The result is an album that remains compelling from start to finish.
