The Collapse Of Everything marks Adrian Sherwood's first solo album in thirteen years, following 2012's Survival & Resistance. Released in August 2025 on his legendary On-U Sound label, this meticulously constructed work pushes the master producer's adventurous sound into new frontiers. The album's title, taken from a Mark Stewart lyric, reflects Sherwood's response to contemporary chaos—a powerful meditation on collapse and renewal featuring contributions from Brian Eno, Doug Wimbish, Keith LeBlanc, and Cyrus Richards.
Produced and mixed at On-U Sound Studios in Ramsgate, Kent by Sherwood and engineered by Matthew 'Good Things' Smyth, the album showcases nearly half a century of studio wizardry. Although underpinned by Sherwood's signature dub sensibility, the music fluidly crosses genre borders—from the hallucinatory flute-led title track to Eno's noirish guitar on "The Well Is Poisoned (Dub)" and Morricone-esque soundtracks on "Spaghetti Best Western." AllMusic gave it four stars, describing it as "a powerful, sometimes harrowing work that lives up to Sherwood's lofty standards."
