In Search Of Ancient Gods is the 1976 album from British progressive group Absolute Elsewhere, led by Paul Fishman. It is a concept work inspired by the books of Erich von Däniken, blending rock, jazz, and electronic textures into an ambitious, cosmic-minded journey. Its tone and themes place it firmly in the adventurous spirit of mid-'70s British prog.
The music draws on symphonic rock, spacey ambient passages, and synth-driven atmospheres reminiscent of Tangerine Dream, with moments that recall the grandeur of King Crimson. Sounds recorded from space, captured at Jodrell Bank and by the British Astronomical Association, add an unusual layer of authenticity to its exploration of ancient mysteries. The result is an atmospheric, genre-blending record that rewards listeners who enjoy prog's more experimental and conceptual side.
