Description
Pressed on very Limited, Translucent Sea Blue Vinyl. After a series of stand-alone singles and a release under the moniker EL VY (with Brent Knopf of Menomena), Serpentine Prison is the first solo record from GRAMMY-Award winning artist Matt Berninger of The National. Recorded with and produced by the legendary Booker T. Jones, it’s a collection of deeply personal songs dripped in Booker’s signature Memphis sound perfectly blended with Berninger’s unmistakable baritone. Indie Exclusive Translucent Sea Blue LP. 2020 release. A mainstay of the French jazz scene, Algeria-born bassist Michel Benita’s project, Looking At Sounds, introduces his revised quartet: Matthieu Michel (flugelhorn) and Philippe Garcia (drums) from his band, Ethics, plus completed Jozef Dumoulin (keyboard). Dumoulin’s swirling sounds inspired Benita to write the evocative new music. With a bewitching cover version of Antonio Carlos Jobim’s “Inutil Paisagem”, an improvised “Cloud To Cloud” and an interpretation of Jule Styne’s “Never Never Land”.
